Image Universe 1995 Topps Trading Card 30 Jim Lee

Born Aug. 11, 1964 in Seoul, South Korea, Jim Lee graduated from Princeton University and forsook a career in medicine to try his hand at his childhood passion: comics. His first professional work came from Marvel, when he was 22, in 1986 on Alpha Flight #51. His run on Punisher: War Journal began in 1988 and made him a star. His attention to detail and characterization revitalized the X-Men, first with Uncanny X-Men #248, and his two years there catapulted the title to record sales. He earned the Comics Buyer’s Guide awards for best artist and best cover artist in 1991. In Oct. 1991, Marvel released Jim’s X-Men #1 and it sold an earth-shattering 7 million copies, making it the most successful comic ever. Jim went on to help start Image Comics with some of his peers in 1992, where he personally launched some of the most popular titles in comics: Wild C.A.T.S, Stormwatch, Gen 13 and Deathblow. Jim lives with his wife and daughters in Southern California, where he watches his Wild C.A.T.S on TV.
