When the original Hobgoblin perished in a battle with other criminals, the super-villain known as Jack O’Lantern took possession of his weapons, becoming the second Hobgoblin, and continuing the first’s vendetta against Spider-Man. After several battles with the wall-crawler, the Hobgoblin became even more dangerous when he acquired magical powers. This devel-opment also drove him insane and hideously deformed his face. He now blames Spider-Man for the monstrosity he has become, and has sworn vengeance against the web-slinger. Unlike Spidey, the Hobgoblin has learned that with great power comes even greater hatred!
